St. Charles Public Library showcases quilt exhibit

To celebrate the opening of the newly-renovated St. Charles Public Library, the St. Charles Arts Council is partnering with the library through an exhibit of art quilts from local artists including the Professional Art Quilt Alliance.

The quilts will be on display during the months of September and October.

While art quilts are smaller in comparison to the larger format fabric installation recently hung on the city's Municipal Building by Amanda Browder through the St. Charles Arts Council and an NEA grant, the shift in scale conveys another mode of personal expression and creative exploration.

The beauty and diversity of the art quilt medium are showcased and echo the community's promotion of the arts, creativity and culture.

Featured artists are Vickie Alsene, Darcy Berg, Joan Bratton, Roberta Dahmer, Jacque Davis, Celeste Giles, Denise Havlan, Sara Hochhauser, Alice Jenks, Sue Jennings, Patty Koenigsaecker, Judy Zoelzer Levine, Jo Mortland, Karen Musgrave, Emily Parson, and Joy Silverman.

Since 1979, the works of local artists have been on display at the St. Charles Public Library through its Community Artist program.

The exhibit can be seen anytime in August the library is open: Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m.to 5 p.m.; and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
