Edge Ice Arena hosts 48th annual Stan Mikita Hockey School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

This June, the Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville hosted the 48th annual Stan Mikita Hockey School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

From June 12-19, this week-long hockey school worked with approximately 70 young athletes from across the country who skated on one of four skill-level based teams.

Classes included rigorous on-ice training, practice sessions, and games against Chicago area hockey teams and clubs. All expenses of this hockey school are paid by the nonprofit organization.

We are thrilled to,once again,be the rink of choice for such an impactful organization and cannot thank them enough for bringing this great opportunity back to Bensenville," said Village President Frank DeSimone.

The Stan Mikita Hockey School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is one of the leading sports organizations in the United States serving deaf and hard of hearing athletes.

The school's mission is to instill confidence and self-esteem in deaf and hard-of- hearing individuals, primarily through AHIHA-sponsored clinics, camps,and related hockey activities.

Boasting three premier skating surfaces, The Edge Ice Arena is among one of the largest ice skating facilities in the country.

The facility provides combined training facilities with extensive skate usages and programming. Programs are available for hockey players, figure skaters, and recreational skaters of all ages.

The Edge Ice Arena, 735 E Jefferson St., is a state-of-the-art facility, featuring two regulation-sized sheets of ice. The main sheet of ice at The Edge, seats 2,800 fans plus 9 luxury Sky Suites and an Executive Club Level seating area.
