SALUTE, INC., hosts 'Art of Giving' pop-up gallery, online auction

Palatine-based nonprofit SALUTE, INC., is hosting an online auction and one-day pop-up art gallery to raise funds for servicemen and women and their families.

The artwork on display is the work of artist Nancy McIlvaine (1926-2020), who was an international interior designer, gallerist, photographer and beloved SALUTE, INC., board member.

The online auction, currently underway, will run through Saturday, June 26. All artwork can be viewed online throughout the week and at the pop-up gallery from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. June 26 in downtown Arlington Heights at 27 S. Evergreen Ave.

The event is being sponsored by Drost, Kivlahan, McMahon and O'Connor, LLC, Picket Fence Realty and Arlington Town Square.

"Our featured artist was an important person in the SALUTE family for many years, and we feel honored to represent this beautiful collection of photography in order to raise funds to support our mission," said Mary Beth Beiersdorf, executive director of SALUTE, INC.

"She played an integral role in helping SALUTE assist veterans and their families during a time of need, and we feel honored she left us with this beautiful collection of photography to continue to raise funds to support our mission."

Once registered for this unique event, community members can bid on the artwork online and view it in person on June 26. The featured photography is part of a collection titled "As Eye See It," and focuses on a tiny piece of a subject, leaving the whole subject up to the imagination of the viewer. Each piece of art is displayed in a custom frame.

All proceeds from the event will go toward SALUTE's veteran assistance programs.
