Join the June 16 'Drinks & Dialogue' on home rule and more
The League of Women Voters of Roselle-Bloomingdale will host a "Drinks & Dialogue" event for the public on Wednesday, June 16, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Wolfden Brewing, 112 W. Lake St. in Bloomingdale.
Light appetizers will be served and beverages will be available for sale.
The invited guests for the evening are state Representatives Seth Lewis and Michelle Mussman and local officials recently elected in the April 2021 Consolidated Election.
They will be discussing home rule which municipalities use to enhance local taxing powers, intergovernmental agreements, and rental inspection regulations.
This part of the discussion will be facilitated by Dominick Lanzito, partner with the law firm of Peterson, Johnson & Murray Chicago LLC.
Currently, Bloomingdale has home rule, Itasca voters considered home rule but did not approve it, and voters in Roselle will be considering it soon.
"Drinks & Dialogue" provides a casual atmosphere for people to share opinions and ideas, ask questions, and become more aware of local, state, and national issues and the options for making positive changes. It is also your chance to meet and get to know your state legislators and local officials.
