St. Viator to host drive-thru COVID vaccination clinic June 10

St. Viator High School in Arlington Heights has been approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health to serve as a drive-thru COVID-19 vaccination site on Thursday, June 10.

The site will provide first doses of the Pfizer vaccine to those 12 years of age and older from 2 to 7 p.m. Registration is required and those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

"We are extremely pleased to have been selected by the IDPH and IEMA to serve local families," said school nurse Pamela Kelly. "We have been working closely with them and other health agencies to make vaccines available to our community."

Registration is now open at bit.ly/3uuHimk.

For those who receive their first dose at the school, second doses will be scheduled for the same site on July 1, also from 2 to 7 p.m.

"While it is our goal to make it convenient for our students and faculty to get this important vaccine, we are also extending the opportunity to others in the community," Kelly said.

St. Viator is one of the few schools in the Chicago area to have hosted full in-person learning this school year. Despite several brief pauses caused by increased COVID-19 cases in the school community, St. Viator has held in-school learning for 139 days this year. Kelly and school officials are encouraging all eligible students to receive the vaccine but there will be no specific requirement to do so for the 2021-22 school year.

St. Viator High School is a Catholic, college-preparatory school committed to providing religious formation and an academic program of excellence to young men and women. Led by the Clerics of Saint Viator, teachers and staff are dedicated to the intellectual, physical, spiritual, and emotional growth of each student.

In recent years, St. Viator High School has twice been selected as a National Blue Ribbon School, the highest national award a school can receive. The school has also been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School from 2015 through 2022 for its ongoing commitment to innovation and use of technology to enhance student learning and was named a Top STEM High School by Newsweek.
