Hanover Township Mental Health Board awards funding at May 25 meeting

The Hanover Township Mental Health Board approved $40,000 in funding to two agencies during their meeting on May 25.

Marklund was awarded $25,000 in Capital Funding for a therapy pool at their facility in Elgin. The Marklund Wasmond Center is an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) with six, 16-bed residential homes for adults with severe and profound developmental disabilities, and offers a comprehensive active treatment program which provides for the intensive medical, social, emotional and physical needs of their residents.

The Board also awarded $15,000 in Capital Funding to Summit School, Inc., for new IT infrastructure. Summit School, Inc., is a therapeutic day treatment program that is dedicated to fulfilling the needs of children with learning differences from kindergarten through high school graduation. Students with learning disabilities, emotional and anxiety issues, or on the autism spectrum attend Summit School from nearly 30 school districts throughout the Chicago area.

The next meeting of the Mental Health Board will take place on August 24 at 6:30PM at the Township Senior Center (240 S. IL Route 59, Bartlett).

Hanover Township serves over 101,000 residents in portions of the Cook County communities of Streamwood, Elgin, Bartlett, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg.
