Misericordia Women's League Benefit Raises $725,000

The Misericordia Women's League's annual Heart of Gold benefit may have looked a bit different this year, but the fun and enthusiasm was felt across the country.

With over 300 supporters tuning in all the way from New York to California, the virtual event, A Night at the Races, was a huge success, raising $725,000.

The evening featured celebrity drop-ins from actress and Chicago native Jane Lynch, Chicago athletes Connor Murphy and Jim Thome, local broadcast stars and even more special guests sharing their love for Misericordia.

Orchestrated by co-chairs Diane Campion, Ann Cohen and Catie Lee, the event celebrated the 25th year of the Heart of Gold Benefit - a memorable anniversary during an even more memorable year. While the virtual nature of the event brought on a new set of challenges, nothing could keep the Women's League from having a great time. Between charcuterie packages, themed cocktails and fabulous silent auction items, league members were quick to come up with new and innovative ways to make the night truly amazing.

Our beloved Sister Rosemary made a special appearance - dressed in her race day best - to present the 2021 Heart of Gold Award to longtime Misericordia supporters, Kathy and Kevin Connor. Throughout her nine years as a Women's League member, Kathy has continued to bring her positive spirit and enthusiasm to everything she does. Between organizing Secret Santa gift exchanges, leading benefit committees, and serving as a former Women’s League President herself, Kathy has always been a true believer in the mission of Misericordia, Sister Rosemary and her entire team.

"Touring the campus, meeting the people and seeing what they offer their residents, made me feel like I was the lucky one," said Kathy. "I felt a part of something much bigger than myself, and part of a very special family."

Thanks to all the supporters near and far who helped to make this event a success. While it was unfortunate that we could not celebrate together, we are so grateful to have been able to celebrate safely, and we're more excited than ever for next year's benefit! We look forward to seeing you all on Friday, February 25, 2022, at the Oak Brook Hills Hilton.
