Habitat for Humanity ReStore Elgin celebrates 15th anniversary

On Saturday, April 10, Habitat for Humanity ReStore Elgin, located at 800 N. State St. (Route 31), will celebrate its 15th anniversary with a celebration from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Not only will cupcakes be served, ReStore Elgin will have a big sale that day. Everything in the store will be 15% off! There will also be a free raffle of 15 select items.

"When we first opened ReStore, we had no idea how well it would do or how warmly it would be received by the community. We were nervous at first! Now, as we look back, we can say with absolute certainty that the decision to open a ReStore was one of the best decisions we made as an organization!" said Barbara Beckman, executive director.

Cupcakes: take and go. First come first serve until it is gone.

Over the last 15 years, ReStore Elgin has racked up some pretty impressive numbers:

• Habitat homes: Proceeds from ReStore Elgin have contributed funds to 82 homes

• Environmental impact: ReStore Elgin has diverted over 12,000 tons of materials from landfills

• Volunteerism: ReStore Elgin has had over 1,800 dedicated volunteers who have provided over 192,000 hours of service

• National ranking: Out of 750 individual Habitat for Humanity ReStores, ReStore Elgin ranks #34 in sales and #36 in proceeds to our affiliate.

ReStore Elgin accepts donations of home improvement and building materials and resells the materials to the public at great prices. The funds raised support Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley's home construction program.
