Local Irish band Ragged Rascals to perform March 20 at Baker Center in St. Charles

The Norris Cultural Arts Center will resume live, in-person events at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at its "home-away-from-home" venue, the historic Baker Community Center in downtown St. Charles, when it presents the popular local Irish band, The Ragged Rascals.

Tickets are $20 and available through a link at www.norrisculturalarts.com.

Seating is limited and socially distanced, in compliance with public health guidelines.

One of the Chicago area's most popular and longest-established Irish folk bands, The Ragged Rascals perform authentic Irish folk songs, street ballads, rebel and drinking songs, sea shanties and other traditional music in the style of the Clancy Brothers, the Dubliners, the Chieftans and the Irish Rovers. Prepare for a rousing evening of Irish-inspired entertainment.

Wednesdays @ One

In addition to Saturday night concerts at the Baker Center, The Norris also will resume its "Wednesdays @ One" event series at the Baker Center at 1 p.m. April 7, when Lindsay Judd, executive director of the St. Charles History Museum, presents a program on the Pandemic of 1918.

Judd will examine the devastating 1918 Influenza epidemic that wreaked havoc on the world for over a year. Her presentation explores the beginnings of the epidemic, how it evolved throughout 1918, and how it affected daily life across the country. The presentation also shows how St. Charles navigated the influenza epidemic, and provides parallels between then and now as we currently fight COVID-19.

Due to public health restrictions, seating is limited to 50 guests. Social distancing will be observed.

Admission is free but guests may register to attend through a link at The Norris website, norrisculturalarts.com/event/the-influenza-pandemic-of-1918/.
