Saint Viator program links students, almuni
Saint Viator High School in Arlington Heights is launching a new program that will connect current students with Saint Viator and Sacred Heart of Mary alumni to help with the college and career search process.
The new program, Saint Viator College & Career Connection, has been carefully orchestrated so no student information will be given to alumni. Only current students and their families can reach out to the alumni who have volunteered to participate.
"When deciding which college to attend, finding the right fit is always a stressful process for students. Pair that with COVID-19 limiting college visit opportunities and the process is even more complicated," said Saint Viator college counselor Amy Herbert.
"We really appreciate any alumni who are willing to help and share insights. It's helpful for our students to hear about a college from the perspective of someone who shares the same values and experiences as they do."
When an alumnus signs up for Saint Viator College & Career Connection, they will provide information about where they went to college for their undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees.
If current students and families have questions about a specific college, whether it's about the school's atmosphere or a specific program, Herbert will give them the contact information of the Saint Viator or Sacred Heart of Mary alumnus who can answer their questions.
"The new College & Career Connection program is a great way for alumni to get involved and stay connected to the school," said Krystal Harris, the school's Alumni Relations manager. "This is just another example of what differentiates Saint Viator. Not only does the school create a wonderful community to keep alumni involved, but the alumni are always willing to come back and help future generations of Lions."
In addition to learning about different colleges and universities, students can also request to be connected with alumni working in various careers. Students can reach out to college and career counselor Amy Herbert at aherbert@saintviator.com.
