Golf outing to aid Dist. 54 students is June 8

The District 54 Education Foundation is hosting its 23rd annual Golf Outing Monday, June 8, at the Schaumburg Golf Club. This is the foundation's largest fundraising event of the year, with all proceeds benefiting District 54 students.

Last year, the event raised more than $32,000, which supported breakfast programs at District 54 schools, extracurricular activity grants to students with financial need and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) programming.

The cost of $150 per golfer (or $550 for a foursome) includes golf, a cart, lunch, dinner and various hole contests.

Our students and their families need the foundation's support more than ever. Immediately following the closure of district schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the foundation established a Crisis Fund to support its most at-risk families, including the 20% of students who qualify for the free lunch program.

Currently, due to social distancing guidelines, the Schaumburg Golf Club is closed. If the club remains closed at the time of the event, the foundation plans to reschedule for late summer or early fall.

In the event that the golf outing has to be canceled entirely, sponsorships collected will go toward providing food, household items and other essentials through the Crisis Fund.

District 54 is asking businesses and community members to consider supporting the students of District 54 by becoming a sponsor, purchasing a foursome for golf or making a donation toward this event.
