District 54 Foundation establishes crisis fund to support students and families

The District 54 Education Foundation has long been committed to the children from financially struggling families in District 54, and our support is needed now more than ever.

After the closure of schools, the Foundation helped to provide meals and household essentials to hundreds of families to combat the immediate impact they endured, and established a Crisis Fund, which is continuing to support our most at-risk families, including the 20% of students who qualify for free lunch. The emergency fund will carry on to help families impacted by this virus, and could be used in the future to provide immediate access to monetary assistance for financially struggling families.

"I have received the (grocery) gift card the school has sent me. I really appreciate you and all the other teachers for the help you have given me. And to the social worker. Thank you very much for your solidarity… I really appreciate it from the bottom of my heart, I thank you." - District 54 Parent

In this time of social distancing, we can still make a difference in our community by making monetary donations to causes we believe in from the safety of our homes.
