King of the Rant Lewis Black comes to ECC Arts Center March 12

Acclaimed stand-up comedian Lewis Black will bring his "It Gets Better Every Day" tour to the Elgin Community College Arts Center on Thursday, March 12. The performance begins at 8 p.m.

"When I say, 'It gets better every day,' you might be wondering, 'Is he being facetious?' Come to the show and find out. Or stay home and wallow in your sadness," Black says.

Known as the "King of the Rant," Black uses his trademark style of comedic yelling and animated finger-pointing to skewer anything and anyone that gets under his skin. His comedic brilliance lies in his ability to make people laugh at the absurdities of life, with topics that include current events, social media, politics, and anything else that exposes the hypocrisy and madness he sees in the world.

As its longest-running contributor, Black is well-known for his regular appearances on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show." His comedy specials have appeared on HBO, Comedy Central, Showtime, and Epix. Black has released eight comedy albums and won two Grammy® Awards. In 2012, he performed eight sold-out shows at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway. In 2015, Black voiced the character Anger in the Academy Award-winning Pixar film "Inside Out."

Amid a rigorous touring schedule, regular TV appearances and movie roles, Black has written three best-selling books: "Nothing's Sacred," "Me of Little Faith," and "I'm Dreaming of a Black Christmas." All garnered critical praise as well as commercial success and spent numerous weeks on The New York Times bestsellers list.

Since 2014, Black has included "The Rant Is Due," a livestreamed, audience/fan-submitted rant, at the end of his stand-up performances. With so much to get off their chests, fans use Black's platform and expert ranting skills to share what's on their minds. Visit lewisblack.com for the rant submission form.
