Dr. David Lewis Installed as 2020 Treasurer of Chicago Dental Society

With more than three decades of experience practicing general dentistry, Dr. David Lewis was sworn in as 2020 Treasurer of the Chicago Dental Society at a ceremony held on Sunday, November 17, at the Four Seasons Hotel. Dr. Lewis previously served as the Program Chair for the 2015 CDS Midwinter Meeting, as well as Director and President of the CDS North Suburban Branch.

As Treasurer, Dr. Lewis will oversee CDS finances and help with the planning efforts for the 155th Midwinter Meeting, taking place February 20-22, 2020, at McCormick Place West. The Midwinter Meeting is CDS' annual scientific meeting and one of the largest exhibitions of dental products and professional dentistry in North America - attracting nearly 30,000 attendees and generating more than $30 million for the local economy in 2019.

Dr. Lewis has a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame, earned his dental degree from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry, and completed his dental general practice residency at the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. In addition to his leadership role with CDS, he served as an Illinois State Dental Society delegate and is also a member of the American Dental Association, American College of Dentists, and the Conley Dental Study Club. Dr. Lewis was also an instructor for the Department of Comprehensive Oral Health Care at UIC and an Attending Clinician at Illinois Masonic Medical Center Department of Dentistry serving the Homebound Program and the Special Patient Program.

Dr. Lewis lives in Glenview with his wife, Dr. Christine Culp, who is also a practicing general dentist. They have two daughters, Anne and Kathleen. In his free time, Dr. Lewis enjoys reading, biking, and traveling with his family. Dr. Lewis is also a charter member of the Rotary Club of Glenview Sunrise since its founding in 1988.

Established in 1864, CDS is the largest local society of the American Dental Association, with more than 4,400 members in Cook, Lake and DuPage counties.
