Palatine Park District Celebrates 75th Anniversary

PALATINE, IL: Palatine Park District will start the new decade by celebrating 75 years of service. Thanks to a decree, signed on September 21, 1945, by Cook County Clerk Edmund K. Jarecki, Palatine Park District is proud to be celebrating such a major milestone.

Through multiple agency partnerships, Palatine Park District has been able to acquire over 500 acres of land. This includes 45 parks, 9 industry leading recreation facilities and 3 aquatic centers. Additionally, Palatine Park District staff have provided thousands of programs and served generations of residents and visitors.

Executive Director, Mike Clark, is thrilled to be witnessing such an achievement for the district, "staff has been working hard to plan for this significant milestone and the rich history of the Palatine Park District."

Staff have organized over 75 events to keep the community engaged and excited all year long. So far, the district has published a commemorative calendar, showcasing the events and important dates upcoming for 2020. Calendars can be picked up at any of the recreation facilities, supplies is limited. At most of the district's upcoming events, residents and visitors will have the opportunity to complete a raffle ticket, scratch off or receive a special edition giveaway.

If guests have visited a facility within the past couple of weeks, they will notice a "new look" on the TV monitor and slides. The District has created a visual identity for the 75th celebration that highlights this achievement and makes it easy for residents to recognize District happenings. In Mid-January, visitors to the website will see the "new look" take center stage.

The celebration will culminate with a 75th Anniversary Picnic in the Park on Saturday, September 26. Be sure to mark your calendars and gather multiple raffle entries by attending district events leading up to September. More details regarding the picnic and activities will be shared with the public soon.

The district's first event of the year is Wednesday, January 8 - a district wide Job Fair. The fair will be hosted at the Community Center from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Guests are invited to learn more about the district's part-time, seasonal and internship opportunities. Potential applicants can inquire about job duties, submit an interview request, and speak to members of specific departments.

Clark, in addition to the entire staff, invites all residents and guests to help make 2020 the most memorable year yet.
