'Rise Up!' with Christmas cantata at Geneva church Dec. 15

This holiday season, experience "Rise Up!", an upbeat collection of Christmas carols in a modern gospel style, as the United Methodist Church of Geneva presents its ta on Sunday, Dec. 15.

This energetic musical program will be performed at 9 and 10:30 a.m. by 50 singers, plus rhythm and horn sections featuring well-known Chicago-area musicians.

Four of the six pieces of the cantata are from Broadway Inspirational Voices' arrangers Michael McElroy and Joseph Joubert. Scott Stevenson, director of music ministries, will conduct. The church's Sanctuary Ringers handbell choir will also perform.

Identical performances will be held at 9 and 10:30 a.m. at the church at 211 Hamilton St. in Geneva. The event is free and open to everyone.
