St. James 25th anniversary Jubilation fundraiser in 'Old Hollywood'

St. James Parish in Arlington Heights annual Jubilation gala raised more than $200,000 at its 25th anniversary celebration, "An Evening in Old Hollywood."

The event was held at the Marriott Lincolnshire Resort on Nov. 2. More than 350 people attended the black-tie affair that featured silent and live auctions, raffle prizes, games and entertainment by Arlington Heights natives from the band Exit 147.

"Our goal is to raise as much as possible to support the local, national and international charities who are most in need," says Fundraising Coordinator, Sheryl Lifka. "We try to be good stewards to our community, such that all proceeds collected at Jubilation are given away."

Decorations, giveaways, prizes, and auction baskets are generously donated by parishioners and community members to help keep expenses low and proceeds high. Sponsorship is also important to underwrite necessary purchases. This year saw overwhelming sponsorship support; a combined 35 corporate and individual sponsors. Co-Chairs Megan & Matt Callero and Marcus & Monica Randall worked with a team of volunteers to encourage local business support and attendance.

"St. James is a vibrant and energizing Arlington Heights faith community. We are delighted to give back some our financial blessings to those who need hope," says Pastor, Fr. Matt Foley.

One of the two paddle raises supported the St. Vincent DePaul Society & PADS ministry. PADS is the suburban homeless organization that St. James supports weekly all year long. Roughly 40 people seek food, showers and overnight accommodations each Wednesday night at the newly renovated church on Arlington Heights Road. The St. James PADS organization is operated by 250 parishioner volunteers on a rotating schedule.

Jubilation is recognized as St. James Parish's largest annual fundraiser. Since 1994 St. James Jubilation has provided financial support to humanitarian services, pastoral and elderly care, and offered financial aid to area families seeking Catholic education.
