Jay Stream School teachers join in McTeacher's Night in Bloomingdale
Students from Jay Stream Middle School in Carol Stream gave teachers an A-plus on their fundraising efforts to help raise money for the eighth-grade boat trip on Lake Michigan at the end of the school year.
Teachers and support staff from Jay Stream volunteered behind the counter on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the Bloomingdale McDonald's located on Stratford Drive. Where they served students and their families in a fundraiser.The staff members from Jay Stream worked various jobs throughout the restaurant during this three-hour fundraising event.
These jobs included, wearing an apple pie costume, apple pie seller, front counter helper, delivering meals to customers, calling out orders, and working the drive-thru.
Jay Hawk, the school mascot, made a special appearance and even took a turn wearing the apple pie costume during this fundraising event.
Apple pies were donated to the school for sale during this event. The proceeds from the apple pies sold went directly to benefit the school.
Twenty percent of the proceeds from the McTeacher's Night sales were also donated directly to Jay Stream Middle School.
David Bear, owner/operator of the Bloomingdale McDonald's, is delighted to participate in the worthy cause for education and the community.
"We are proud to serve the families of the Jay Stream community through the McTeacher's Night event," Bear continued. "In addition to helping provide financial support for our local schools, we help students feel connected to their school, their teachers and their sense of community."
