Quartet for Mind & Soul Paintings by Dan Simoneau opens at Blue Moon Gallery October 26th

Blue Moon Gallery is honored to host a new comprehensive exhibition by Dan Simoneau that explores the subject of both light and shadow on the male figure as well as the artist's path to abstraction.

Over 45 works by contemporary visual artist Dan Simoneau will be displayed October 22 through November 15 at Blue Moon Gallery, located at 18620 Belvidere Rd, Grayslake IL. The gallery launched in April 2019 and is open Saturdays and Sundays, 1-4pm. An Artist's Reception on October 26 from 6-9pm is free and open to the public. All are welcome.

Simoneau said his works bring the classical male figure into the modern world. "I have great respect for the emotion and ethos of the male subject, who I use as my model." Simoneau said. "To capture light and shadow in my paintings I prefer the male figure due to its musculature and sculptural qualities with its just under-the-surface tension and strength."

Some of the models from Dan's paintings will be at the reception and the gallery will also be unveiling a brand new never-seen-before painting that Simoneau has recently finished.

Born and raised in Lewiston MN, Simoneau currently resides in Kenosha WI with his husband. He studied fine arts at the University of Southern Maine, graduating Magna Cum Laude with majors in painting, printmaking and pottery and a minor in art history.
