Nominations due by Oct. 31 for Showing Kindness to the Kindest Giveaway

Elk Grove Village, IL: Local remodeling company, OHi, is giving away a kitchen makeover as a part of their Showing Kindness to the Kindest Giveaway, running from Oct. 15-31.

With the goal of showing gratitude to a resident living within a 15-mile radius of Arlington Heights, OHi hopes other residents will join the fun by submitting video nominations for a person who they see as a community hero or someone who deserves an act of kindness.

"We love supporting local businesses that help strengthen the community, but we wanted to do more. We wanted to contribute to the other aspects that help hold these neighborhoods together. When we asked ourselves what those are, there was one blatantly obvious answer: the people," said President John Kautz. "And while we can't give a kitchen makeover to every resident, we would love to highlight the kindness of at least one. It's a way to remind us all about the good that lives right next door."

For the nominations, OHi requests a video submission explaining how the nominee has made an impact on the nominator's life or the lives of others. The nominee must be an owner of their residence, and it is encouraged for nominators to select someone who would benefit from an updated kitchen.

"The best part is that this giveaway won't work without each of us being challenged to slow down and recognize the goodness of others. In the end, your nomination is giving back in a huge way, even if the nominee doesn't win, because you're showing that you see all the wonderful things they are doing," Kautz said.

While the nomination period closes on Oct. 31 at 11:59 p.m., the winner won't be announced until Dec. 20 to offer time for deliberation and further interviews.
