Dentists Provide Over $28,000 Worth of Free Dental Care

On Friday, Sept. 6, Brian Homann DDS, hosted a Free Dental Day for those in need at Elk Grove Family Dental. Dr. Brian Homann, periodontist Dr. Jennifer Silc, and oral surgeon Dr. Mark Spinazze, with their staff, provided over $28,000 worth of free dental care for 40 patients.

Dr. Brian Homann created this Free Dental Day in order to give back to the community. The day was designed to provide free dental care for those who were unable to afford regular care. Everyone who showed up for the event that day was seen, and some patients even received thousands of dollars worth of free care.

Dr. Homann, Dr. Silc, Dr. Spinazze, Swina Patel RDH, and Alma Malek RDH provided exams, digital x-rays, fillings, fluoride treatments, simple and deep cleanings, and simple and surgical extractions at the event. A wide variety of patients were seen that day, including individuals with disabilities, people of all ages, and even a patient who was nearly 70 years old and had never been to a dentist before.

The Free Dental Day was a huge success thanks to all those who volunteered their time or made donations. Joe Bush from Elk Grove High School connected Dr. Homann with recent graduates interested in going to school for dental hygiene-these volunteers assisted in translating for Spanish speaking patients and helped teach patients how to brush and floss appropriately. Prince of Peace church allowed the use of their facilities for additional space, and Elk Grove Village and the Police Department assisted in providing their resources and services.

The combined efforts of these local dental professionals, volunteers, and organizations made this Free Dental Day a success in providing free dental care to those in need. They hope to make this an annual event.
