Elgin Public Museum hires new executive director

After an extensive search, the board of directors of the Elgin Public Museum is excited to announce its new executive director Maria Wojtas, who started Aug. 12.

She has a wide breadth of museum experience, including having worked at the Roselle History Museum, Naper Settlement, and the Chicago History Museum. Most recently, she was director of communications at First Presbyterian Church in Arlington Heights.

Wojtas' experience, along with the board's assistance, will help usher in a new era at the museum.

An open house will be announced at a later date so the public can meet her.

The Elgin Public Museum is open from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday through Labor Day. Hours after that are noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
