Life-saving blood donations needed to help patients in our community

Aurora, Ill. - July 29, 2019 - Together, Versiti Blood Center of Illinois and blood donors across Chicagoland make a life-saving impact through the gift of blood donation. Patients in need of blood tomorrow rely on the generosity of blood donors today.

Versiti Blood Center of Illinois is calling on the community to make a life-saving donation this August. Donations of all blood types are needed, but especially type O negative blood, which is the universal blood type given to patients in emergency situations and those undergoing surgery.

Chicago blood donors can help patients in need at Versiti Blood Center of Illinois' upcoming blood drives:

Saturday, Aug. 3 from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.

Wednesday, Aug. 7 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Manheim Chicago, 20401 Cox Ave., Matteson

Friday, Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Peskind Law Firm, 2445 Dean St., St. Charles

Sunday, Aug. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 18 N377 Galligan Rd., Dundee

Tuesday, Aug. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at MJ Electric, 1200 Roosevelt Rd., Glen Ellyn

Tuesday, Aug. 13 from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 150 W. Illinois Ave., Aurora

Saturday, Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Plainfield Central High School, 24120 W. Fort Beggs Dr., Plainfield

Sunday, Aug. 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Willow Creek Community Church, 67 Algonquin Rd., Barrington

Sunday, Aug. 18 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Willow Creek Community Church, 2200 Shermer Rd., Glenview

Thursday, Aug. 22 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at AMITA Health, 120 N. Oak St., Hinsdale

Saturday, Aug. 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Crossroads Ministry, 23001 Torrence Ave., Sauk Village

To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-7TO-GIVE (1-800-786-4483) or visit versiti.org/Illinois.

Anyone 17 or older who is in good health and meets eligibility requirements is encouraged to donate blood. Appointments are preferred, but walk-in donors are also welcome. Parental consent is required for 16-year-olds to donate. The entire process takes about an hour. Donors should bring a photo ID that includes birth date.
