Raees "Rae" Yawer Announces Candidacy for Illinois State Senator
Democrat Rae Yawer officially kicked off her campaign to make a run for State Senate in Illinois' 22nd District on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Amor Banquet Streamwood, Illinois.
About 200 local Democrats were there to lend her support. Many community leaders, business owners, elected officials and the media attended this event. During an interview with Local Press she said, "I have volunteered and served the community for over 20 years and I believe in an inclusive environment. I'm a bold Progressive candidate and I want to keep the State of Illinois a safe, healthy and fair place. I'm running to represent our Community and the People of Illinois, to make Illinois a better place for everyone. I'm constantly working to promote equality and a voice for all residents, specially marginalized communities and those who find government bureaucracy intimidating."
"We're going to have a professional campaign and having already a talented professional staff,"
Raees is a strong advocate for health care, equality for all individuals and forgiving student loan debt. She will fight to erase mental health stigma and advocate for more inclusive policy for people with disabilities. She said, "I will make sure these individuals are not treated as lesser human beings."
Rae Yawer feels "Our current elected leadership has grown complacent and is out of touch with constituent needs. It is unacceptable to raise taxes on those whose incomes are already stretched, or vote according to what the party establishment dictates, rather than what families in our district need. As a State Senator, I will answer to constituents, not special interest groups or large corporations."
Rae holds a degree in Biology and Chemistry and has studied accounting and business law at Northeastern Illinois University. Advocacy and progress have become inherent in her nature, as a result, leading her to empowering heights where she has been recognized for some astounding contributions to her community. As a Commissioner, she manages the Finances of the Park District and Strategic Planning.
