Primrose School of Carol Stream, a new school being developed on a 2-acre parcel in Carol Stream and scheduled for a fall opening, is celebrating summer with its inaugural "Picnic in the Park" from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, July 21, at Cantigny Park, 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton.

It offers families who already have children enrolled in Primrose -- as well as those who are considering enrollment in the fall -- with the chance to get acquainted, meet the Primrose leadership team, build new friendships and explore Cantigny Park. All families and children are welcome, regardless of their involvement with Primrose School.

"An event like Picnic in the Park is a great way for children and their parents to meet their peers and begin building friendships," says Vibhuti Vaghani, the school's owner and founder. "We firmly believe that familiar faces on the first day of school mean fewer tears -- hopefully no tears at all -- which makes for an easier drop off and transition."

A variety of activities and performances are planned, including the Chicago Bubble Show featuring Anastasia who will create smoky bubbles and rainbow bubbles. Additionally, a face painting artist will be on hand. Primrose will provide a picnic area and serve light refreshments. Picnickers are asked to bring their own blanket and pack a light lunch. Families interested in attending the Picnic in the Park are asked to RSVP by calling or texting (630) 687-7467 or sending an email to vvaghani@primrosecarolstream.com.

Construction on the new, 12,000-square-foot Primrose School began this year to launch an early childhood education program that will serve Carol Stream, Bartlett, West Chicago, Glendale Heights and Bloomingdale.

When completed and fully operational, Primrose is licensed for enrollment of 184 students. Currently, four months until opening, the school already has roughly 20 percent of enrollment.

The curriculum will highlight and enhance education for children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years by providing attention and care and preparing children for elementary school. The school focuses on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics) early childhood education.

The school also will offer before and after school programs for children ages 5-12. When fully-staffed, it will employ 22 to 26 teachers, a director, assistant director, an education coach, a chef and the on-site owner.

The school will have 11 classrooms, a fully-functioning kitchen facility, and administrative offices. It will have an age-appropriate outdoor area and playground for a daily dose of physical activity.

The school is being constructed on a 2-acre parcel at 1271 N. County Farm Road in Carol Stream. For details, visit www.PrimroseCarolStream.com.
