Signal Hill, NSDAR of Barrington Installs New Officers and Board for 2019-2021

At the May 2019 meeting, the duly elected officers and board members of the Signal Hill Chapter took their oaths of office. The new two-year board consists of: Joyce Wright, Regent; Kathy Boyle, First Vice Regent; Susan Oland, Second Vice Regent; Jennifer Fisher, Recording Secretary; and Kathy Casey, Corresponding Secretary. A one-year term of office will be filled by Donna Cardwell, Treasurer; Lynn Watters, Historian; and Deb Edlund, Chaplain.

The members of Signal Hill meet from September through May of each year, primarily at the Barrington Area Library. Meetings include general business to be voted on by the membership at large, information disseminated from the national headquarters in Washington, D.C., and educational programs by educators, area speakers on topics of importance, or members who have insight into a broad range of topics, including historic preservation, education, and veteran's affairs. In addition, Signal Hill members independently volunteer at a variety of concerns in the Barrington and Fox River valley area, and as a group at the Community Meal in November, and for Earth Day or veteran's Stand Down projects.

The Signal Hill Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, raises funds throughout the year and distributes to 501 (c) (3) organizations, whose missions support DAR's mission of education, historic preservation, patriotism, conservation, and Native American issues. The chapter was founded in 1972, and is dedicated to preserving history, promoting patriotism, conservation and historic awareness in our community, and securing America's future through better education for children. Membership is established through approval of documentation of direct lineage from an American Revolutionary War Patriot.
