Helping Veterans Exiting Homelessness

As we remember and celebrate our veterans this Memorial Day, First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights is uniting to help veterans that are exiting homelessness. That's why we are supporting a local organization called Veterans Exiting Homelessness.

Many veterans find themselves homeless for various reasons after their service to our country. The Department of Veterans Affairs provides qualified homeless veterans with vouchers that pay for an apartment's rent for up to 36 months. Since that veteran was homeless, trying to fill an empty apartment can be costly and stressful. That's where Veterans Exiting Homelessness steps in. They fill the gap for those veterans moving into empty apartments by providing donated move-in essential basics (kitchen utensils, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene items, etc.). As a church and as a community, our goal is to collect those necessary household items to donate to our veterans and help get them settled into their new homes. We invite you to join us in this mission!

A table will be set-up inside First Presbyterian Church at 302 N. Dunton Avenue during the Arlington Heights Memorial Day Parade on May 27, 2019. Items may be dropped off between 9:00-11:00 am. If you are unable to join us on Memorial Day, you can still drop off items at the church from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 28-29. Please consider donating to this great cause, enjoying our wonderful parade, and thanking a veteran for their service.
