Cook County Health Cuts Ribbon on Outpatient Center in Arlington Heights

On Friday, April 12, Cook County Health held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and public open house at its new Arlington Heights Health Center as part of its ongoing plans to expand care into suburban Cook County.

"Health centers are the backbone that provide care to local communities," said Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle. "Now, our friends, families and neighbors in Arlington Heights and the surrounding communities will have access to fully integrated medical and dental services in one medical home."

The Cook County Health Arlington Heights Health Center officially opened on January 14. Located at 3250 N. Arlington Heights Road, the 25,000-square-foot facility includes 25 exam rooms, dental space and an on-site lab. The comprehensive patient care team, who provides a variety of primary and specialty care services, includes bilingual Spanish-speaking staff members. The center expects more than 30,000 visits annually.

"As health care continues to shift its focus to preventive, outpatient services, this new center moves us closer to realizing our future as a patient-centered health system," said Dr. Jay Shannon, CEO for Cook County Health. "Over the course of the next year, Cook County Health will open new facilities in North Riverside and Blue Island - all designed to provide the right care, at the right time, in the right place, as we work to avoid preventable hospitalizations."

The services that will be provided in the new center include:

• Chronic disease management

• Dental services

• Health education classes

• Immunizations

• Mammography

• Obstetrics

• Pediatrics

• Prenatal care

• Primary care for children and adults

• WIC nutrition services

"The opening of the Arlington Heights Health Center is a major step toward health equity and parity that all Cook County residents deserve," said Cook County District 14 Commissioner Scott Britton. "Through this center, thousands of residents in District 14 alone will now be better served by CCH - from primary care and dentistry to specialty care and support against food insecurity. I thank President Toni Preckwinkle and Dr. Shannon for their leadership in expanding access to comprehensive, affordable, quality health care to more residents in the northern suburbs."
