Cooper Middle School named Illinois Horizon School to Watch

Cooper Middle School has been designated an Illinois Horizon School to Watch by the Association of Illinois Middle-Grade Schools.

Qualities of a School to Watch include academic excellence, developmental responsiveness, social equity, and sound organizational structures and processes that support excellence. In its award letter, evaluators cited they were "impressed with the degree to which [Cooper] fulfilled the criteria of the program."

"This is truly a designation that should be shared with all of the students, parents, and staff members that have come through our building in the last 25 years since Cooper became a middle school," said Bob Gurney, Principal of Cooper Middle School.

Cooper Middle School is just one of 10 schools in Illinois to receive this designation in 2019 and among approximately 400 Schools to Watch nationwide.
