Author and spoken word artist Jon Jorgenson to lead Judson's Spiritual Enrichment Week Feb. 4-8

The Judson community will welcome author, speaker and spoken word artist Jon Jorgenson to campus next week.

He will be the guest host for Spiritual Enrichment Week in chapel Feb. 4-8. The chapel times on Monday, Wednesday and Friday will be 10 a.m. in Herrick Chapel, 1151 N. State St. in Elgin.

The services for Tuesday and Thursday will be at 11 a.m.

The chapel events are free and open to the public.

Spiritual Enrichment Week is a recurring chapel series focused on re-energizing the Judson base with discussions about real-life, practical topics.

"Jon will bring a unique artistic spin to Spiritual Enrichment Week. He is creative and thoughtful, poetic and winsome," said Chris Lash, director of University Ministries. "The series 'forward' will encourage students to follow the voice of God into the fray and through difficulty."

Jorgenson is an author, speaker, and spoken word poet whose YouTube videos have been viewed by more than 15 million people.

He partners with many organizations including Awana International, Moody Bible Institute, the Willow Creek Association, and hundreds of other churches, colleges, and conferences all over the globe. His spoken word poetry provides a dynamic and creative experience that captures the imagination of audiences everywhere.

Jorgenson published his first book in 2014, "Authentic Love: Everything I learned about Jesus I learned from a child" (WestBowPress, 2014). He served as the creative director of The Anima Series, a nonprofit, online production company seeking to create inspiration, provide hope, and Glorify God.

Originally from Lake in the Hills, Ill., Jon graduated from Carnegie Mellon University's musical theater and acting school before moving to New York City and performing the lead role of Sky in the Broadway production of "Mama Mia."
