Willow South Lake Church holds its third annual World Food Fair

On Sept. 9, Willow South Lake Church in Lincolnshire celebrated their cultural diversity by holding its third annual World Food Fair. This was an opportunity for the community to enjoy some food from around the world, play some games, and connect with others at Willow South Lake.

The sound of steel drums set a very festive atmosphere for the event as the community exited the 11 am service. Even the weather cooperated, as everyone worked their way from tent to tent to sample foods from around the globe, including Filipino, Mexican, Chinese, Ukraine, Caribbean, American, Indian, Korean, Italian and German.

The menu included a variety of homemade creations from church members. From America: cupcakes, cookies, and chocolate covered rice krispy treats. From Germany, bratwurst, sauerkraut, German potato salad. From Italy: pasta and marinara sauce. From Mexico: tacos, guacamole and chips. From India: buttered chicken, roti/naan, vegetable pulav, samosas. From the Ukraine: cherry filled perogis. From China: moon cake, Sichaun Dandan noodles. From Korea: Kimbop: Korean roll, Tokpoki rice and fish cake, Jabchae noodles & vegetables. From the Philipines: Turon banana spring rolls, Halo-halo shaved ice and ice cream dessert, Sagot Gulaman: tapioca beverage. From the Caibbean: coconut and currant raisin rolls, guava tarts, Caribbean stewed chicken, St. Kitts potato salad.

The church, at 625 Barclay Blvd., Lincolnshire, is the newest regional campus of Willow Creek Community Church of South Barrington. Willow South Lake offers services weekly at 9 and 11 a.m. Sundays.
