Last 2018 Idea Garden open house set for Aug. 25

Summer may be almost over, but the inspirational Kane County Master Gardener Idea Garden is in full bloom.

Join the Master Gardeners for the final summer open house Saturday, Aug. 25, in St. Charles and experience these creative garden concepts in-person.

"The 2018 Idea Garden was designed to showcase gardens easy to replicate at home, and each year features new ideas," said Sarah Fellerer, program coordinator for University of Illinois Extension. "Come see what plants work well in a moon garden or 'easy peasy' plot, and check out unique combinations of flowers, natives, herbs and vegetables in several creative themes, such as the seed savers project and the pollinator pocket."

The Master Gardeners also have a corn house, an insect condominium, a pizza garden and more.

The remaining open house will be hosted from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25. Visitors also are welcome to stop in during Master Gardener work days on other summer Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. The Kane County Master Gardener Idea Garden is located at 3480 Route 38, at the intersection with Peck Road, in St. Charles. Visitors can enter via the Route 38 driveway.
