Arlington Heights Senior Center Celebrates 25th Anniversary of National Senior Health & Fitness Day

The Arlington Heights Senior Center will serve as an official event site for National Senior Health & Fitness Day, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, with free tote bags and giveaways for the first 300 guests. Complimentary snacks and juice will be served.

Featured presentations include "Brain Health" at 9 a.m. with Jeannine Forrest, Ph.D., R.N., followed by "Nutrition and Cognition - Are They Related?" with Peggy Balboa, RD, LDN at 10 a.m. and keynote speaker Mary Helen Ekstam, MT-BC, speaking on "Music and the Brain" at 11 a.m. Free prizes, each valued at $100, will be given out following each of the main presentations (must be present to win). Event concludes at noon.

Additionally, the following free screenings will be offered between 8:30 and 11 a.m.: Blood pressure, bone density, body mass index, hearing, posture, fall risk, skin cancer and a stroke risk assessment, as well as a caregiver stress test. Northwest Community Hospital's animal assisted therapy dogs will be on hand as well.

All are welcome. No advance registration is needed. The center is located at 1801 W. Central Road, in Arlington Heights.
