Larkin High engineering students learn work-readiness skills

On May 16, engineering students at Larkin High School's Project Lead The Way job shadowed Edgar Montes from Junior Achievement of Chicago and Motorola Solution's Wesley Anderson, Joshua Jackson and Becca Meza.

The Motorola Solutions location in Elgin features a large manufacturing plant. The employees talked about the company, and how ideas are innovated, manufactured, and tested. Instead of bringing the students to the facility on Galvin Drive, they brought Motorola Solutions to the high school through a reverse job shadowing activity. Students worked on a simulated assembly line to produce the Talkabout T460 mobile two-way radio.

Junior Achievement of Chicago is dedicated to student work readiness. The nonprofit youth organization, founded in 1919, uses experiential learning to inspire students to dream big and reach their potential.
