Salas family and Hotel Baker to be honored as Electric Christmas Parade grand marshals

The Downtown St. Charles Partnership announces that the Salas family and Hotel Baker have been selected as grand marshals for the 2017 Electric Christmas Parade. It will take place at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, on Main Street in downtown St. Charles.

For 90 years, Hotel Baker has been a vital part of St. Charles. The Salas family has been instrumental in keeping the tradition and elegance of the Hotel Baker alive. They perfectly restored the glory that the hotel enjoyed for so many decades, envisioning its appeal as a getaway spot, a desirable setting for wedding receptions and a hot spot for live music and cocktails.

"Hotel Baker has been a tradition for many events during the holidays - Thanksgiving Day Dinner Buffet, Breakfast with Santa, Christmas Eve Dinner and the New Year's Eve Celebration! These events provide such special memories of the holiday season," Rowena Salas said.

"We are thrilled to celebrate Hotel Baker's 90th birthday in 2018, and looking forward to having fun filled events in the months to follow!," Salas said. "We will be kicking off the celebration during the St. Charles Holiday Homecoming, beginning on Friday, Nov. 24, at the Lighting of the Lights.

"This year, we're also excited to be joining the Holiday Homecoming Parade in addition to the annual Hot Cocoa Giveaway," Salas said "We look forward to the 90th celebration gala which will be in June 2018."

The Downtown St. Charles Partnership, organizer of Holiday Homecoming featuring the Electric Christmas Parade, is also very excited to honor the Salas Family in this way.

Executive Director Jenna Sawicki, said, "We are thrilled and honored to have the Salas family as our grand marshals. The Hotel Baker is a wonderful historic landmark in our downtown that the Salas family has truly made it into our gem."
