Girls volleyball: Conant wins season opener
Conant's girls volleyball team started off the season on a winning note with a 25-7, 25-10 triumph over visiting Streamwood Wednesday night.
Coach Drewann Pancratz watched her offense get 4 kills and 3 aces from Yuri Hara while Natalie Jurgenson served 7 aces.
Hara also led the defense with her 7 digs while Payton Litney (7 assists) and Gianna Spetka (4 assists) set the offense.
Buffalo Grove falls twice: Beginning play in the Wheaton North tournament, Buffalo Grove (0-3) lost to the host Falcons (25-17, 25-16) and to DeKalb (25-20, 25-19).
Maine South d. Rolling Meadows: Maine South won the season opener 25-21, 19-25, 19-25 at Rolling Meadows.
Ashlyn Ryan led Meadows with 10 kills while Erin Behls had 15 assists and 2 blocks.
West Chicago d. Hoffman Estates: West Chicago posted a 25-17, 23-25, 29-27 victory over the visiting Hawks (0-2), who were led on attack by Patricia Wadas (15 kills) and Niyah McAllister (6 kills). Ashley Poland had 26 digs and Emma Essex 13.
