Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo!: Make-A-Wish Illinois, The Gardner School play Fairy Godmother to local 3-year-old

The Gardner School of Glenview-Northbrook joined Make-A-Wish Illinois to celebrate with Lilly O'Donnell, a 3-year-old girl who was recently granted her wish and will soon go on her dream vacation to visit her favorite characters at Florida theme parks.

"Make-A-Wish Illinois has been able to bring some fun and family togetherness for Lilly that have helped her build resilience during her recent challenges," according to Lilly's parents, Angie and Connor O'Donnell. "But what has been most exciting for Lilly is her first trip to Florida later this month where she will be able to meet her favorite characters and spend time with her family and favorite cousin who recently moved to Florida. Having these positive activities has been really helpful for all of us."

The event was made possible in part by The Gardner School's support of Make-A-Wish Illinois on behalf of its 11 Chicago-area schools. Students and staff greeted Lilly and her family by dressing up as familiar, beloved characters to show their support and excitement for the upcoming trip.

"We're proud of our ongoing collaboration with Make-A-Wish Illinois to make dreams become reality for courageous and deserving kids," said Allison Deutsch, director of The Gardner School of Glenview-Northbrook. "While our students and staff were thrilled to celebrate with Lilly in anticipation of her upcoming wish, we were also honored to have an opportunity to remind her and her family that they have an entire community standing behind them and cheering them on."

As part of its commitment to connect children to their communities, The Gardner School's 24 schools have pledged $30,000 to local Make-A-Wish chapters nationwide in 2022.

"We know that every child deserves nurturing and the opportunity to see their dreams come true. That's just one of the many reasons we partner with Make-A-Wish in every community we serve," said Tammy Robinson, chief operating officer at The Gardner School.
