North Suburban Y hits the links

The North Suburban YMCA, based in Northbrook, is accepting registration for its second Community Strong Golf Fundraiser, which takes place July 21 at Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling.

The 2021 event attracted more than 40 sponsors and 140 golfers, who helped raise about $38,000 for the North Suburban Y. The organization's Community Strong events, including a casino night held in May, helps make programs such as summer camp, swim lessons and after-school care available to those in financial need.

The golf event, sponsored by Northwestern Medicine, begins with a 12:45 p.m. shotgun start at Chevy Chase, followed by a patio reception from 6-8 p.m. July 21. The patio party will include open bar, buffet dinner, raffles and an auction.

Planned is a "beat the pro" contest, a chipping contest and other challenges, like a "best-dressed team" award.

Tax bills delayed

The second installment of Cook County property tax bills will be delayed, according to Northfield Township Assessor Alida Nally. The projected timeline for the bills to be mailed and paid is late fall 2022.

Cook County tax bills, mailed in installments twice a year, are collected one year in arrears. First-installment 2021 tax bills were mailed in January and due March 1.

Second-installment property tax bills in Cook County are normally mailed by July 1 and due on the first business day in August. Delays in their issuance is being attributed to the implementation of a new property tax management system, the assessor's office said.

The delay in 2021 second-installment bills means homeowners or their escrow will have to pay the 2021 property tax bill in the fall, and then be prepared to pay first-installment 2022 bills in March 2023.
