Northbrook's Teams Elite juniors chosen for ISU World

Northbrook's junior Teams Elite Synchronized Skating Team, which trains out of the Northbrook Sports Center on Pfingsten Road, is one of two teams U.S. Figure Skating has selected to compete at the ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships 2022.

The event will be held in Innsbruck, Austria, from March 17-19. Skyliners Junior, from New York, is the other United State team selected. U.S. Figure Skating will also select two alternate teams.

Members of Teams Elite Junior include:

Glenview: Meghan Blomberg, Alyssa Hjelmgren, Amanda Lee.

Northbrook: Emily Chalem, Ellie Cohen, Sophia Jukovich, Hannah Lee, Ellie Lim, Ava Meltser, Bianca Rowland, Alexandra Smith, Angela Zhang.

Buffalo Grove: Rena Knysz.

Evanston: Molly Kaplan.

Lisle: Abigail Nelson.

Palos Heights: Isabella Walsh.

Teams Elite also brings in skaters from California, Washington and Wisconsin.

Teams Elite has finished no lower than fifth place at the U.S. Synchronized Championships, with the novice or junior divisions, since 2017 with a silver in juniors in 2020 and a bronze in 2019.

The squad, coached by Danielle Ostrower with assistants Lauren Roman, Josh Fischel and Jamie Whyte, won the 2022 French Cup's junior division.
