Man pleads guilty to street racing before deadly West Chicago crash

A 20-year-old West Chicago man pleaded guilty Tuesday to aggravated street racing in connection with a crash that killed a man in August 2020.

In exchange, a charge of reckless homicide against Sami A. Saadat was dropped, according to DuPage County court records.

Saadat, of the 1200 block of Kings Court, was sentenced to 176 days in jail and two years of probation.

Pedestrian Alberto Quintero-Martinez was killed around 1:46 a.m. Aug. 15, 2020, on Route 59 near Main Street in West Chicago. Authorities allege that Saadat was behind the wheel of a 2018 BMW during a race against 29-year-old Xavier D. Brown, who was driving a Dodge Charger.

According to court records, both cars struck Quintero-Martinez.

Brown, of the 300 block of Whitewater Drive in Bolingbrook, awaits trial on one count of reckless homicide and two counts of aggravated street racing.
