Suspect in fatal hit-and-run to appear in bond court Saturday

A 40-year-old Mount Prospect woman charged in the Aug. 21 hit-and-run death of a 59-year-old Wheeling man in Glenview will appear in bond court Saturday morning.

Ewelina Pikulska, of the 1100 block of Hunt Club Drive, is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and failure to report a fatal accident within a half-hour, according to a news release from Glenview police.

Authorities said Pikulska was driving her gray 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport south on Sanders Road near South Parkway Drive when she struck Trinidad Salago, who had been riding a bicycle.

A warrant was issued in October for Pikulska, who was living in Des Plaines at the time.

Authorities learned Pikulska was in Florida, and the Okaloosa County sheriff's office arrested her Oct. 27 to await extradition.
