To life! JCC Chicago celebrates 118 years in the community
JCC Chicago celebrated its 118th anniversary serving Jewish families with a communitywide anniversary party - L'Chaim! To Life - Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 23 and 24, at the Bernard Weinger JCC in Northbrook.
"18 is Hebrew for 'life,'" said Megan Abraham, Chief Advancement Officer for JCC Chicago, as she spoke of the symbolism of the 118th anniversary. "We really want to bring the community back to life as restrictions from COVID-19 continue to ease."
"18 also means 'cheers,'" she added, "and we want to celebrate the ongoing good health of the entire community."
The celebration kicked off with a Saturday night campfire and wrapped with events through the day on Sunday, including a morning Zoom conference from Israel with guide Yoram Preminger and a virtual tour of "hidden Israel."
