Route 83 resurfacing work to begin Monday

Illinois Department of Transportation officials say a resurfacing project on Route 83, from north of I-290 in Elmhurst to Irving Park Road in Bensenville, is scheduled to begin, weather permitting, on April 26.

The work, which will require daily, intermittent lane closures, is expected to be completed in late November.

The project consists of resurfacing a 2.3-mile stretch of Route 83 and constructing new ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps. Access to residences and businesses within the work zone will be maintained throughout construction.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through the area, officials said. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
