ATHLETES OF THE WEEK, SPONSORED BY GIOSTAR CHICAGO: WILL SOLIS AND ANTHONY TRAVLOS, GLENBROOK SOUTH

Given that Glenbrook South's 37th annual Canned Food Drive needed to come together in the fall, Student Council adviser Mark Maranto was told not to expect much help from Titans football players Will Solis and Anthony Travlos. Instead, the absence of a fall football season had the two seniors "all in," Maranto said. Vice presidents on the Student Council Executive Board, linebacker-running back Solis and defensive back-receiver Travlos helped procure $2,500 in monetary donations and three school buses filled with food and essential goods that on Nov. 25 were delivered to the Northfield Township Food Pantry. In addition to what Maranto called their "boots on the ground" efforts to aid donations, the two football players boxed the products and, on delivery day, unloaded the boxes at the pantry. Solis and Travlos also accompanied Maranto to Onward Neighborhood House in Chicago to distribute donated winter clothing, masks and school supplies. As co-president of Glenbrook South's Hellenic Club, Travlos has organized a toy drive through the Salvation Army. "Both of those boys have very giving spirits," Maranto said.
