COVID-19: 25 new cases in Glenview, 8 in Northbrook

Thirty-three new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the past week in Glenview and Northbrook, but there were no new deaths, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Glenview had 25 new cases and Northbrook had eight.

Since the pandemic began, 978 people have tested positive for the virus in Glenview, 2% of the population. Fifty-one people have died.

In Northbrook, 577 have tested positive, 1.7% of the population, and 42 have died.

Suburban Cook County has had 64,758 cases and 2,262 deaths as of Tuesday, according to the state. In Chicago, there have been 79,939 cases and 2,959 fatalities.

Suburban Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will counties had recorded 131,380 COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday, 45.1% of the state's total. There have been 4,134 deaths in the suburbs, representing 47.9% of all COVID-19 deaths in Illinois.

In Illinois, 8,637 people have now died from COVID-19 as of Tuesday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. They are among 291,001 who have tested positive.
