51 new COVID-19 cases in Glenview and Northbrook in past week, one death

Fifty-one new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the past week in Glenview and Northbrook, and one person died, Cook County public health and medical examiner's offices reported.

There were 23 new cases in Glenview and 28 in Northbrook from Aug. 26 through Tuesday. One person from Glenview died.

In Glenview, 850 people have tested positive and 51 people have died since the pandemic began. In Northbrook, 502 have tested positive and 42 have died.

In the previous week, Aug. 19-25, Glenview cases increased by 38 and Northbrook cases increased by 18, and there were no new deaths.

Suburban Cook County had 55,551 cases and 2,186 deaths, as of Tuesday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. In Chicago there were 71,441 cases and 2,879 fatalities.

Suburban Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will counties had recorded 111,654 COVID-19 cases and 3,975 deaths as of Tuesday.

Illinois had 236,515 cases, including 8,064 deaths.
