Hellenic Academy aims for academic excellence, strong sense of community

Hellenic American Academy in Deerfield provides a unique dual-language private program that prepares students in preschool through eighth grade for greatness. Our problem-based learning curriculum focuses on social, emotional and academic development, and it is recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education.

Small class sizes allow teachers to keep all students engaged, as well as focus on each individual learner. Students routinely score in the 90th percentile on national standardized testing and our Greek Language Program has a 100% success rate in Certificate of Attainment in Greek Language (Ellinomatheia). Graduates continue on to succeed in high school, with graduates enrolled in honors and AP courses, and are accepted into top-tier universities.

"The Hellenic American Academy is a strong school community that celebrates student growth through the pursuit of excellence and lifelong learning," says Christina Bennett, Principal of the Hellenic American Academy's Day School. "Our school is committed to providing an academic environment that is rich and exciting in an atmosphere that provides support, encouragement and care for every student."

Hellenic American Academy is an evolution of Socrates School, which has provided academic excellence for more than a century. As one of the largest Greek-American educational institutions in the country, the Academy also provides Greek Language programs on evenings and Saturdays for preschool through high school students, as well as enrichment and cultural programs infused with timeless classical ideals.

The universal principles of Hellenism enable students to understand the origins of democratic thinking, independent thought and the pursuit of lifelong learning. This approach is instrumental in producing worthy members of the community who will make it a place of respect and greatness.
