A garage fire late Friday night in Island Lake caused an estimated $60,000 in damage, according to the Wauconda Fire District.

Firefighters responding at 11:34 p.m. to a call reporting a structure fire in the 3500 block of Eastway Drive, between Forest and Honeysuckle drives, arrived to find a detached garage in flames, authorities said. The garage was about 10 feet from a home.

 

The fire was reported under control at 11:53 p.m., officials said. Overhaul and salvage of the structure was completed by 1:08 a.m. Saturday. No injuries were reported by fire district officials.

The fire remained under investigation Sunday, according to the Wauconda Fire District. Wauconda firefighters were assisted by the Barrington, Countryside, Fox River Grove, Nunda Township and Lake Zurich fire departments.
