Northern Kane County Chamber names 2020 board leaders

The Northern Kane County Chamber of Commerce recently announced its executive board and leadership for 2020.

The new chamber board chair is Tiffanie Young, MS, RDN, LDN, Director of Community Health Services at Northwestern Medicine. She has been employed by the health system for 11 years and oversees operations for outpatient behavioral health services, diabetes and nutrition education, medical and surgical weight management services, wellness, sports medicine and two health and fitness centers in the northwest region of Northwestern Medicine.

"The NKCC membership continues to remain healthy," said Young, " which is a great indicator status of our community at-large. Strong businesses contribute to strong communities. The NKCC has made investments to enhance the chamber website and implement upgrades to the chamber app. Over the course of 2020, expect to see programs that will be valuable resources to local businesses, highly anticipated events and strong community partnerships between NKCC and local government, municipalities, agencies and clubs."

With Young on the executive board are: vice chair John O'Sullivan, OTTO; treasurer Susan Harkin, Community Unit District 300; secretary Pat Szpekowski, APR, PR Strategies & Communications, Inc.; past chair Kristi Kozar, Polynt Composites; and Melissa Hernandez, chamber president.

The NKCC welcomes three new members to the board: Jay Bennett, Edward Jones; Dan Hickey, All State; and Michael Simpson, Baird & Warner, Algonquin; and acknowledges two retiring board members, Marc Huber, Village of Carpentersville; and Scott Komaromy, Wells Fargo Advisors.

Continuing board members representing diverse business expertise are: Scott Andresen, Andresen & Associates, PC and East Dundee Village Trustee; Bryant Crawford, 5-Star Computer Services; Dana Dobosz, Dobosz Law Offices, PC; Ernie Gamino, Edward Jones Investments Services; Sharon Glasshof, GC Realty and Development; Lori-Ann Haiges, Polynt Composites; Patricia Mierisch, community member-Gilberts; Tammy Ray, Elgin Community College; Lori Schutt, Creative Promotional Apparel; and Tim Scott, Village of West Dundee.

"Our chamber remains strong because of our board members who volunteer and donate much of their time, energy and efforts to support the chamber in its direction, its events, and our local business community," said Hernandez. "On behalf of all of our members, whose support is appreciated, we thank them for their willingness to serve."

The Northern Kane County Chamber of Commerce is an advocate for business interests by identifying and following the needs of the business community through leadership, education, development, support and promotion. It represents the communities of Carpentersville, East Dundee, Gilberts, Sleepy Hollow, and West Dundee.
