Schaumburg approves capital improvement plan

Schaumburg's village board has unanimously approved a $237 million multiyear capital improvement plan, including $49 million in improvements for the next fiscal year beginning May 1.

The plan sets the direction and priorities for the village's capital improvement projects and associated funding for the next five years. Updated annually, the plan represents the village's commitment to sustaining its roadways, infrastructure and community facilities in an appropriate state of repair.

The plan improves vital infrastructure with 64% - $151 million - dedicated to roadway improvements and 16% - $39 million - going to water and sewer improvements.

In the coming fiscal year, $10 million is allocated for local street repair, an increase of $2 million from previous years, which will come from recent increased state Motor Fuel Tax revenues and the reorganization of other village funds.
